INTERNATIONAL DAY AGAINST DRUG ABUSE & ILLICIT TRAFFICKING OBSERVED IN GOA

Directorate of Social Welfare in collaboration with a NGO, Human Touch; organised a programme to observe the International Day against Drug Abuse & Illicit Trafficking on Wednesday.

Minister for Social Welfare, Subhash Phal Dessai graced the occasion at the KTC Bus Stand, Panaji. Secretary for Social Welfare, E. Vallavan, IAS, Director, Social Welfare, Ajit Panchwadkar, Senior Programme Officer for the ‘Nasha Mukta Bharat Abhiyan’ under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, Dr. Sijo George, State Coordinator for the Project Management Unit (PMU), Amisha Yadav were also present.

Students echoed the message of staying away from Drugs and emphasised the importance of health by way of prevention from going in the wrong direction.

In observance of the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, District Collector South Goa, Asvin Chandru, IAS, took the oath on the drug abuse with the Chairperson and members of the South Goa District Committee, NSS Co-ordinator, School, High School, Colleges, Project officer & Line departments. Plant Saplings were also planted to indicate Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan.
