Chief Minister, Dr. Pramod Sawant presented ‘Shram Gaurav Awards 2025’ to mark the International Labour Day on Thursday.
In all, 20 awardees representing the unorganised sector – migrant, domestic, industrials and municipality, underlined the occasion as their contribution was recognised.
The function was organised by the office of the Commissioner, Labour and Employment in collaboration with Disha Foundation at Patto, Panaji.
The Chief Minister, in his address praised Disha Foundation for working alongside the Labour department to create awareness about Labour rights and root out Labour exploitation. He also emphasised the availability of schemes like One Nation One Ration card for even the migrant labourers registered in Goa.
Dr Sawant also announced welfare measures for Goans working in the private sector. He also warned industries against exploitation of apprentices by extending their apprenticeship with confirmation not being guaranteed.
Meanwhile, Labour day awareness programmes were organised across 10 venues in the state. The Office of the Commissioner, Labour and Employment held a Special Awareness Programme at Taliegao.
