Poriem MLA, Dr. Deviya Rane inaugurated the International Week of Deaf People & International Day of Sign Language celebrations organised by the Directorate of Social Welfare in collaboration with Goa State Disability Commission and Goa Association with Deaf at Porvorim.
State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, Guruprasad Pawaskar; Chairperson of Goa State Commission for Protection of Child Rights Peter Borges, were present among others.
Vinita Shirodkar, ‘Miss Deaf India 2023’; and runner-up Sujatadevi Passi were also in attendance.
Vinita is now set to dazzle on the global stage at the World Miss Deaf Contest in Tanzania this November along with Sujatadevi Passi.
Meanwhile, Directorate of Social Welfare also organised International Senior Citizen Day celebration function, in collaboration with All Goa Senior Citizen Federation and Ravindra Bhavan, Margao in Margao.
Social Welfare Minister, Subhash Phal Dessai along with MLAs Digambar Kamat and Ulhas Tuenkar attended the function.
