IM Molenda Marcin of Poland proved his dominance in the Rapid section scoring 8 points out of 9, winning the gold medal in the open category at the 24th World IPCA Rapid Chess Championship 2025 at the International Centre, Goa.
Marcin finished one point ahead of Ayapov Alimzhan of Kazhakistian, who scored 7 points and won the silver medal while FM Valenta Vit Vaclav of Czech Republic also on 7 points won the bronze medal.
In the women’s category, Leszner Liliana of Poland, Zakharova Evgeniya of Russia and Khishigbayar Mijgee of Mongolia won the gold, silver and bronze medals respectively.
In the wheelchair Men’s category, IM Obodchuk Andrei of Russia, Vaibhav Gautam of India and Alekseev Mikhail of Russia won the gold, silver and bronze respectively while in the wheelchair Women’s category, Dirkasri M from India, Sharon Aby also from India and Tran Thi Bich Thuy from Vietnam were awarded the gold, silver and bronze medals respectively.
Medals were also given in the Under 20 boys and girls and Under 15 boys and girls category. Altogether 24 medals were presented out of which India had a rich haul of 9 medals.
