The third day of the 24th World IPCA (International Physically Disabled Chess Association) Individual Chess Championship 2025 saw a shift in momentum as the top seed, IM Molenda Marcin of Poland, was held to a draw by Ayapov Alimzhan of Kazakhstan in a gripping fourth-round encounter. The result leaves Marcin on 3.5 points as the race for the top position intensifies.

Taking the lead at the end of Round 4 are FM Liplin Llia and Dzenisenia Mikhail, both representing FIDE, with a perfect score of 4 points each. Breathing down their necks are a formidable group tied at 3.5 points, which includes IM Molenda Marcin (Poland), FM Sargissyan Sargis (Armenia), Ayapov Alimzhan (Kazakhstan), Glazar Domagoj (Croatia), and IM Obodchuk Andrei (FIDE).

In addition to the main rounds, the much-awaited Blitz Tournament also commenced today, adding a dose of high-speed excitement to the championship.

In a touching moment that exemplifies the spirit of inclusion and empathy, the organizing committee and arbiters allowed Khlypovka Lada of FIDE (Russia), who faced medical complications, to play her game from her room. The gesture drew praise and admiration from players and officials alike, underscoring the event’s commitment to accessibility and care.

The championship, hosted for the first time in Asia, continues to witness competitive brilliance and camaraderie among 97 participants from 17 countries.
