Kiran Barve’s firm GB Associates promises to provide top class grounds for sports like cricket, football, tennis, basketball, khokho and much more as the highly experienced gentleman feels Goa needs such infrastructure since the state is a heavy catchment area for big-ticket events as any tournament to be organised in Goa draws maximum participation.

Having done up high quality T20 and ODI grounds in Maharashtra, equipped with sub-surface drainage system; the veteran professor and cricket coach seems to be on a mission to bring his expertise to prepare a ground or even undertake complete makeover of old grounds, adding a seating arrangement and constructing a pavilion in Goa, who will host the National Games later this year.

The 76-year-old former sub-contractor with L&T has been meeting with Government of Goa officials, sports associations, sports enthusiasts these days. Today, he hosted a presentation and a briefing to announce his endeavour.

“There is no ground equipped with sub-surface drainage system in Goa. I hope for at least one order for Goa, (and) it will be a milestone. I guarantee you that grounds I have prepared, do not have waterlogging,” said Barve, who has turned himself into a ground engineer marshalling his troops to use the best technique involving a network of perforated HDPE pipes, wrapped with 200 GSM geo fabric and a proper slope from the wicket to peripheral drainage so as to wipe out the rain water within 15 to 20 minutes, and with that a rain-interrupted match can start again.
