Department of Posts has approved amendments to the Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) recruitment conditions, which now needs proficiency in Konkani to secure the job.
In his social media post, Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant stated that he met Ramesh Patil, Director of Postal Services, Goa Region; and received an update on the matter.
“Under the revised policy, proficiency in Konkani has been made a mandatory requirement for applicants to GDS posts in Goa. Additionally, Konkani and Marathi have been officially recognised as the local languages for recruitment. Candidates who have studied in either Konkani or Marathi up to the 10th standard will be eligible. However, those proficient in Marathi will also need to demonstrate proficiency in Konkani.
“This important reform will prioritise Goenkars in recruitment, create greater employment opportunities for local youth, and strengthen postal service delivery in Goa,” reads the CM’s post on X.
