Chief Minister, Dr. Pramod Sawant inaugurated Ravindra Bhavan at Canacona, in the presence of Speaker of Goa Legislative Assembly, Ramesh Tawadkar , Art & Culture Minister, Govind Gaude , Environment Minister, Aleixo Sequeira , MLA, Ulhas Tuenkar, Director Art and Culture, Sagun Velip and others.
Costing Rs 55 Crores, the Ravindra Bhavan project has been executed by the Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC).
The Chief Minister announced that the Ravindra Bhavan has been renamed in tribute as ‘Lata Mangueshkar Kalangan’ while its auditorium is named after former minister and Canacona-born legislator Sanjay Bandekar.
Canacona’s new facility is ahead of similar projects present in Goa and will provide a platform for artistic excellence in the region, emphasised Dr Sawant. “However, this infrastructure is not just for natak and tiatr, but I see it being utilised for children’s programmes, orientation events, needs of startup and research sector,” stated the Chief Minister.
Dr Sawant also graced the Ran Bhaji Mahotsava at Lata Mangeshkar Kalangan, Canacona, celebrating the rich diversity of local vegetables and traditional culinary practices. Tawadkar and Gaude were also present.
