PANAJI: WCM Gunjal Chopdekar of Tiswadi Taluka CA emerged champion as she remained undefeated with 9 points in 9 rounds, at the All-Goa Open Rapid Liberation Cup Chess Tournament 2021 organised by Queens Chess and Cultural Club.
Ruthvik Raiker of Mormugao Taluka CA with 8 points and WCM Swera Braganca of Tiswadi Taluka CA with 7.5 points, were placed second and third respectively.
In the last round, Gunjal defeated Joy Kakodkar, Ruthvik defeated Aryan Raikar while Swera defeated Madhavan G.
Suyan Belurkar, Anirudh Parsekar, Shane Braganca, Tushar K, Joy Kakodkar , Netra Savaikar and Love Kakodkar took up the 4th to 10th place.
Asmita Ray, Sairudra Nagvekar, Aryan Raikar, Tejas Vernekar, Vinayak Thevar, Sanvi Naik Gaonkar, Keith Albuquerque, Sarvang Pagi , Atharv Katkar and Harsh Dagare took up the 11th to 20th place.
The tournament drew a good response with 197 players from all over Goa participating, which also included 56 rated players.
Rajya Sabha MP and President of Goa Chess Association, Vinay Tendulkar was the chief guest while Kishor Bandekar, Treasurer, was the guest of honour, and gave away the prizes.
