An input distribution programme was conducted under NABARD-funded project ‘Promotion of improved indigenous backyard poultry through scientific interventions for sustainable poultry production and livelihood security in Goa’; at the Poultry unit of ICAR-CCARI, at Old Goa recently.
Inputs like 25 chicks, 50kg chick feed, one feeder, one waterer were distributed to the five farmers each. Dr Parveen Kumar, Director, ICAR-CCARI Goa, interacted with the beneficiaries and encouraged them to be self sufficient through sustainable poultry farming.
Dr. Shirish Narnaware, Senior Scientist (Vety. Pathology) & Section I/C (Animal & Fishery Science) also guided the farmers about terms and conditions of the project and about health management of the chicks. Dr Nibedita Nayak, Scientist (Poultry Science) and PI of the project guided the farmers about brooding of chicks and management at every stage of the bird life.
