NATIONAL FIRE SERVICE DAY: FIRE RISK ALLOWANCE TO BE PROVIDED FROM THIS YEAR, ANNOUNCES CM; 350 APADA MITRA & APADA SAKHIS EMPOWER COMMUNITIES TO FACE EMERGENCIES

Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant has announced ‘Fire Risk Allowance’ from this  year itself, for fire-fighters as ‘a small step to acknowledge the risks they bravely face’.

The Chief Minister hailed the fire fighters as ‘true frontline warriors’, and emphasised that the Government of Goa has constantly upgraded the infrastructure & equipment, Human Resources.

Gracing the occasion of National Fire Service Day at Goa Fire & Emergency Services headquarters in Panaji, Dr Sawant paid tribute to the brave hearts who laid down their lives on duty. The CM also presented commendation certificates to outstanding fire fighters, truck operators, station fire officers and clerical staff across Goa.

Dr Sawant also underlined the significance of fire safety awareness and participation of society in the department’s endeavour.

“We’ve trained 350 Apada Mitra and Apada Sakhi volunteers, empowering communities to act during emergencies. Goa is equipped with multiple cyclone centers to be prepared for disasters,” stressed the Chief Minister.

“Let us all pledge to support our fire services and follow fire safety measures for a safer, secure Goa,” added Dr Sawant.
