NATIONAL HIGHWAYS PROJECTS REVIEW MEETING: WORK ON ELEVATED CORRIDOR TO COMMENCE BY JANUARY-END, NO TOLL FOR INTERNAL ROADS IN GOA

The work on the proposed 6-Lane Elevated Corridor at Porvorim, will commence next month; the travels on the intra-state roads will not be levied with toll, revealed  Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant on Saturday. He also briefed the media on various other projects after Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari had chaired a review meeting of the ongoing National Highway projects in Goa. 

Union Minister of State, Gen VK Singh, Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant, Union Minister of State, Shripad Naik; Transport Minister Mauvin Godinho were also present.

The status of various projects is as follows:

Mopa Link Road (NH-166S) to be completed by April 2024 – Bridge Pillar to be Highest in India

6 Lane Elevated Corridor in Porvorim – Work to Commence by end of Jan 2024

Margao Western Bypass given Administrative Approval

Port Connectivity – To be completed by April 2024

Borim Bridge under purview of National Highway – Tentative Approval Granted 

Ring Road to Curb Highway Congestion (Mumbai – Kanyakumari & Goa – Hyderabad) – Consultant Appointed

Sankhali to Khanapur, Belagavi via Chorla – Parallel Road to be constructed following Environment Protocols

Anmod – Sugar Factory – Khandepar – Construction to Commence Soon

No Toll for Internal Roads in Goa – Central Government approves toll free travelling.

Meanwhile, New Zuari Bridge seems set to add a new dimension to Goa’s tourism industry. The Phase II of Cable-Stayed Zuari Bridge was dedicated to the nation on Friday evening. “Coupled with laying of the Foundation Stone for the Twin Observatory Towers and the 6-Lane Elevated Corridor at Porvorim, this infrastructure transformation in Goa is set to bring ease to commuters and elevate Goa’s status as a premier tourism destination while also fortifying the Mumbai-Kanyakumari economic corridor,” posted Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant on his social media.
