PANAJI: As part of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and Fit India Run, National Cadet Corps (NCC) 1 Goa Battalion carried out a cleanness drive and a run respectively, in Mapusa on Friday.
The cleanliness drive was held at Gandhi Chowk, with 15 cadets from boys battalion with 2 ANO and 3 PI Staff; taking part. Major Tushar S. Anvekar briefed the cadets about the activities conducted in celebration ahead of the 75th Independence Day.
St Xavier’s College and DM’s College, both based in the city, were involved in the activities as their student cadets cleaned the statue of Mahatma Gandhi as well as the surrounding area.
The Fit India Run was conducted on the Mapusa-Parra Road. Fifteen cadets of Boys Battalion with 2 ANO and 3 PI staff, were present.
Cadets of both colleges ran with banners signifying the importance of exercise in our life and aim to live a fit and healthy lifestyle. They conveyed that for a healthy life, exercising every day is important.
