PAARTH SALVI WINS ALL-BARDEZ TALUKA OPEN RAPID CHESS TOURNAMENT

PANAJI: Paarth Salvi (Elo 1375), a student of Chubby Cheeks Spring Valley High School Porvorim, won the All-Bardez Taluka Open Rapid Chess Tournament, which was organised by Bardez Taluka Chess Association (BTCA) jointly with Saraswat Vidhyalay’s Sridora Caculo College today at Anand Giri Hall, Khorlim-Mapusa.

Paarth Salvi scored 8 points by winning all 8 rounds and remaining unbeaten throughout the tournament. The second place went to Aarth Karapurkar (Elo 1120) while Sayuri Naik (Elo 1178) finished third.

A total of 88 chess players participated in the tournament, which included 13 FIDE-rated players. Arvind Mhamal was the Chief Arbiter of the tournament, while Avinash Malvankar was the Assistant-Arbiter.

The other prize-winning players are as follows: Nawal Sawant, Hriday Morajkar, Shlok Dhulapkar, Suhas Asnodkar, Naik Reema, Sanjeev Parab, Pratnesh Malvankar, Samarth Dhulapkar, Sahil Kanolkar, Abhay Patil, Kunal Naik, Snehal Naik. Best Under–7 (Boys): Siddhanth Pai, Param Chodankar; (Girls): Durva Raikar. U–9: Ekang Malvankar, Aarush Arsekar; Veda Kelkar, Leisha Harmalkar. U–11: Mandhar Korgaonkar, Shivam Naik; Shrama Morudkar, Navya Narvekar. U–13: Parth Govekar, Advik Kalangutkar; Sangeeta Talankar, Siddhi Palyekar. U-15: Dhiraj Desai, Gyan Dmello; Anushka Mishra, Saanvi Raikar. Best male player– Prashant Narvekar, Best female player– Kanak Moye.

Principal of Saraswat Vidhyalay’s Sridora Caculo College, Dr. Santosh Patkar was the chief guest and gave away the prizes in the presence of BTCA officials among others.
