PANAJI: Queens Chess and Cultural Club organised a 24-day coaching camp at Dr KB Hedgewar School recently.
The resource persons for the coaching camp were Sarika Chopdekar, Vishala Shetty, Sunetra Dagare, Teja Hadkonkar, Renuka Hawal, WCM Gunjal Chopdekar, Tanvi Hadkonkar. They were assisted by Balakrishnan V and Sanjay Belurkar. In all, 23 players participated in the coaching camp.
During the closing function, a tournament was held amongst the participants of the camp. Digant Malgaonker, Gautam Biranje , Sairaj Sawant, Parth Kambli and Sai Krishna Nair bagged the top five prizes. Siddaraj Parab, Devansh Naik, Dattaraj Naik and Saanvi Bhat were the other winners; states a press release.
IM (Elect) Nitish Belurkar was the chief guest for the concluding ceremony of the camp. He complimented the players for picking up the nuances of the game quickly and asked them to show the same dedication here on. He further said that their desire will help them to excel in chess. Headmaster of Dr KB Hedgewar School, Vilas Satarkar and President of Queens Chess and Cultural Club, Dr Roopa Belurkar also spoke on the occasion.
