The Rotary Club of Margao Midtown along with Rotaractors of Margao Midtown, Rotary Club of Margao, Rotary Club of Margao Sunrise organised a felicitation programme on the occasion of World Organ Donation Day.
Approximately 15,000 kidney transplants are performed each year in India. Eighty per cent of the donors are women where as only 20 per cent of the recipients are women.
Conquering this gender bias in Goa, a brother (Vishal) donated his kidney to his sister Sonal. The siblings were both felicitated by Dr Medha Salkar, Chief Medical Officer, Directorate of Health Services. Dr Shekhar Salkar, President of IMA Bicholim, felicitated Sonal, who invoked the model bond as epitome of fast-approaching Raksha Bandhan!
