Chief Minister, Dr. Pramod Sawant on Monday, inaugurated and commissioned 2 Ro-Ro Ferry Boats namely ‘Dwarka’ and ‘Gangotri’ on the Chodan-Ribandar route on Mandovi River.
Union MoS for New and Renewable Energy, Shripad Naik; Minister for RND, Subhash Phal Dessai; Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), Sadanand Shet Tanavade; Mayem MLA, Premendra Shet, Secretary (Inland Waterways), Cheshta Yadav, IAS, were also present.
Dr Sawant complimented the shipbuilding firm Vijai Marine Shipyards for executing the PPP project with the cost of the two ferries touching a whopping Rs 25 Cr. He hailed the Goan shipbuilding expertise and underlined the potential of growing the industry with new initiatives in future.
The Chief Minister also stated that the government will consider bringing in advanced mode of commute in the other 8 Waterways routes across the state.
