Rosary College of Commerce and Arts, Navelim, won the Goa University’s Inter-Collegiate Men’s Cycling Championship 2023-24 organised by Rosary College of Commerce and Arts, Navelim, under the auspices of Goa University at Navelim-Goa.
Government College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Quepem, were the runners-up. The third place went to St Joseph Vaz College, Cortalim. The championship drew 60 participants from colleges all over Goa, taking part in the race covering a 35-kilometre route.
In Individual Category, Mark Jose Fernandes (53:21.00) of Parvatibai Chowgule College, Margao; Valanko Fernandes(01:00:33.00) of Rosary College of Commerce and Arts, Navelim; and Amit Sukthankar, (01:02:10.00) of V.M. Salgaoncar College of Law, Miramar secured first, second and third place respectively.
Dr. Manoj Hede, College Director of Physical Education and Sports, VVM’s Govind Ramnath Kare College of Law, Margao, was the chief guest. Dr Hede along with Guest of Honour Prof. Helic Barreto, Principal, Rosary College of Commerce and Arts, Navelim, Dr. Francis Lobo, College Director of Physical Education & Sports, Rosary College of Commerce and Arts, Navelim, Dr. Rajan Mathew, College Director of Physical Education & Sports, Govt. College Quepem, Dr. Devashish Bagchi, College Director of Physical Education. Parvatibai Chowgule College, Margao, Dr. Avertano Barretto, former College Director of Physical Education, Don Bosco College of Engineering, and Dr. Elroy Pinto, College Director of Physical Education & Sports, St. Joseph Vaz College, Cortalim; and presented medals and trophies to the winners.
