RUTVIK, SNEHAL, SHAMRAO & SHREYANK TOP AGDBYA CARROM TOURNAMENT

Akhil Gomantakiya Daivadnya Brahmin Youth Association (AGDBYA) and Ponda Daivadnya Brahman Samaj organised its 4th Daivadnya Carrom Tournament 2024 on Sunday 28th July 2024 at Daivadnya Hall, Ponda Goa. The event was supported by Goa Carrom Association.

The tourney was held in four categories, men (15-49 years), women (15 years & above), veterans (50 years & above) and kids (below 15 years); where 134 were the total entries received.

Prashil Salkar, President-AGDBYA and Deepak Lotlikar, President-Ponda Daivadnya Samaj, welcomed all the guests.

In his speech, Salkar spoke about the work of AGDBYA, which was founded in 2009. “AGDBY always thrives to bring our community people together by organising various activities such as Health camps, Career guidance camps, Sports events etc.  AGDBYA also provides helping hands  to our needy students by giving them books, fees and other Educational help”. He also said that in this busy digital world of smart phones, these types of tournaments help the children to remain physically active.  

Chief Guest Prashant Shirodkar, Director, Directorate of Official Language, thanked the organisers for putting together this impressive event. He also added such kind of events enable our local players to showcase their skills and talents, contributing to youth progress and also extended his sincere gratitude to organizers for extending him this privilege.

Winner – Snehal Walke

Veterans (50 years & above)

Winner – Shamrao Raikar

Runner-up – Manoj Chodankar

2 Semi-Finalist – Keshav Raikar & Guiresh Bandodkar

Kids (Below 15 years)

Winner – Shreyank Chodankar

Runner-up – Siya Verlekar

2 Semi-Finalist – Svanik Lotlikar & Rugvedh Salkar

Chief Guest Prashant Shirodkar gave away the prizes alongside Sneha Kadnekar, President-Ponda Daivadnya Mahila Mandal, Deepak Lotlikar, Prashil Salkar and Suraj Naik, Head referee.

AGDBYA felicitated Harsh Raikar, Goa cricket player (U-16 & U-19); and Simran Santosh Haldankar for winning a bronze medal at the South Asia Karate Championship held in Bhutan.

Vrundavan Raikar compered the prize distribution ceremony. AGDBYA Secretary Rohit Vernekar proposed the vote of thanks.
