Sports Minister, Govind Gaude met and congratulated Goan Sailors who recently won medals at the YAI Nationals, which also served as Asian Games Selection Trials in Mumbai.
Katya Coelho, who topped all the three Selection Trials in the IQ Foil and won 3 gold medals, qualified for the Asian Games for the second time in a row. Adhwait Menon who won 2 gold medals in the ILCA 4 Youth Men Category, has qualified with a slender margin over his nearest rival from Bhopal, MP. Pearl Colvalcar who won 1 bronze and 2 silver medals in the ILCA 4 Youth Women category, is reserve for the Asian Games. The sailors were all happy and proud to be congratulated.
Gaude also discussed with them their plans for preparation for Asian Games and promised them wholehearted support.
The Sports Minister also discussed issues like grassroots development and pursuit of medals with Goa Yachting Association president Rainer Dias, General Secretary Keith D Souza and Vice-President Siddharth Satardekar in view of upcoming National Games; and planning over next 5 years. Also present during the visit to the Sports Minister, were coach Donald Coelho, Dr Tejashree Colvalcar and Cdr. Prashant Menon.
