The department of Chemistry, department of Physical Education and sports and IQAC of St Joseph Vaz College, Cortalim, collaborated with PHC Cortalim to organise a free General Medical Check-up (Allopathic, Ayurvedic & Homeopathic) for the people of Cortalim and nearby villages on 15th April 2023 at the premises of St. Joseph Vaz College, Cortalim.
A team of 12 staff of PHC Cortalim including Dr. Tejan Lotlikar (Medical Officer PHC Cortalim) conducted the checkup. The medical team also consisted of Dr. Noela Correia (Medical officer, PHC Curtorim) and Dr. Tanvi Acharya (Physician M.B.B.S). Free physical examination along with free blood sugar, blood pressure, RBC count, haemoglobin was provided by PHC Cortalim. Cervical Cancer screening was also provided to the women.
Approximately 99 citizens from Cortalim and nearby villages availed the benefits of the Medical Checkup. Doctors advised and prescribed them various medicines during consultation at the camp.
The camp was successfully organised under the guidance of Dr. Melwin D’Sousa (Co-ordinator), Dr. Elroy Pinto (College Director of Physical Education and Sports) and Angela Serrao (IQAC Coordination). The other members of the organising committee were Dr Maria Fonseca (Principal), Dr Fr Bolmax Pereira, Seliston Gama, Komal Gawde, Viona Correia, Aroma Diniz, Manali Acharya, Infancio Correia, Richa Dias, Pratiksha Marathe, Dr Maria Cineola and Karen Cabral.
Meanwhile, htSt. Joseph Vaz College Library in collaboration with the NDLI Club organised a Quiz for the B.Sc students and asked them to identify pictures of World Heritage Sites in India with the three options provided to them. The event began on April 18, 2023, at 12:15 p.m. Eight students in total took part in the activity. After the students’ enthusiastic attempts at the quiz , the competition ended at 12:30 p.m. The winning three teams in the competition, that were awarded first, second, and third place respectively, were S.Y.B.Sc (Prajwal Sawant, Chhavi Singh, and Flossy Lucas), T.Y.B.Sc (Lavina Fernandes, Vandana Lamani), and F.Y.B.Sc (Ashish Gupta, Neha Panday, and Muskan Kumari).
