Chief Minister, Dr Pramod Sawant reviewed Solid Waste Management and instructed Coastal Village Panchayats to maintain cleanliness. MLA Delilah Lobo, MLA Kedar Naik, and MLA Michael Lobo; Sarpanchas, Panch Members, and Panchayat Secretaries of the coastal village panchayats in North Goa, were present for the Review meeting.
With the tourist season now gaining momentum and hordes of visitors rush towards the coastal areas, the waste management efforts by panchayats will prove decisive towards keeping Goa clean.
As such, the Chief Minister asked the panchayats to avail the provisions of Union Government, State Government under Swachha Bharat Mission Gramin, and utilisation of the SBM funds allocated by 15th Finance Commission.
“The Panchayats must carry out the garbage segregation and issue circulars to hotels and shacks. Government shall hand over management of toilets under the Tourism department to the Panchayats for better administration. Swachh Goem, Sundar Goem is our mission and we shall work together to achieve it,” stressed Dr Sawant.
