PANAJI: Department of Physical Education and Sports of Saint Joseph Vaz Institute of Education-Cortalim in association with Saint Joseph Vaz College, organised a table tennis tournament for the staff of institutes managed by Diocesan Society of Education; recently at St Philip and James Church Hall, states a press release.
In all, 26 participants from all over Goa, competed in the TT tournament. Dr Maria Fonseca, Principal of St Joseph Vaz College, declared the tournament open.
Rowan Colaco of Our Lady of Rosary High School, Fatorda, won the tournament. Bony Vales of St Bartholomew High School, Chorao, was the the runner-up.
The final was a mouth-watering event in which Rowan Colaco held his nerve to get the better of his opponent 4-3. Earlier in the semi-final, Rowan Colaco defeated Leroy of Our Lady of Perpetual High School Cortalim. Bony Vales defeated Dr Allan Abreu, Coordinator of St Joseph Vaz Institute of Education.
Rev. Prof Simao Diniz, Administrator of St Joseph Vaz College, was the chief guest and gave away the prizes.
