A significant stride towards infrastructure advancement in the Porvorim constituency was achieved with the inauguration of a crucial project in the presence of the Minister of Tourism, Information Technology, Electronics, and Communications, Printing and Stationery, & local MLA Rohan A. Khaunte. Minister for Power, New and Renewable Energy Housing, Sudin Dhavalikar; Rajya Sabha MP Sadanand Shet Tanavade; among others were also present.
This project involves transforming the current overhead 11 KV feeders originating from the 33/11 KV Porvorim substation into underground systems, as well as converting the existing overhead LT network to an underground LT system. The project, which has a total cost of 162 crores, encompasses the areas of Penha de Franca, Salvador do Mundo and Socorro Panchayat.
Dhavalikar lauded Khaunte for his dedication and significant contribution to this project, emphasising the importance of infrastructure development for the betterment of the people. He stated: “Under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant, various significant milestones have been achieved for the welfare of the people. On the occasion of Nari Shakti Vandana, we highlight the importance of electricity for household chores and the empowerment of women, aiming to enhance its accessibility and efficiency through the installation of the substation.”
Echoing these sentiments, Khaunte reflected: “In alignment with the vision of the Modi government to empower women, I emphasise the strides being made in Porvorim towards infrastructure development through the Underground Cabling project. This initiative stands as a gift dedicated to the women of Porvorim. Additionally, I commend the electricity department, labeling it as the best in the state, and reaffirm our commitment to making Porvorim the best constituency.”
This new development marks a significant step towards infrastructure improvement, especially in the electricity sector. With the conversion of overhead networks to underground systems, the area is expected to witness more efficient power distribution, positively impacting everyday life and overall development.
