UNION MINISTER NITIN GADKARI INAUGURATES NEW ZUARI BRIDGE, LAYS FOUNDATION STONE FOR TOWERS & ELEVATED CORRIDOR

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari on Friday; inaugurated a 8-Lane cable-stayed bridge spanning the Zuari River and laid the foundation stone for Observatory Towers & Viewing Galleries atop the New Zuari Bridge, accompanied by a 6-Lane Elevated Corridor on NH-66 at Porvorim.

The ceremony was presided over by Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant in the presence of Union MoS General Gen VK Singh,  Union MoS, Shripad Naik, State Transport Minister Mauvin Godinho, Ministers of State, Members of Parliament, MLAs, and Senior Officials.

The New Zuari Bridge boasts an 8-Lane cable-stayed design, standing as India’s second bridge on two pillars with a 340m length. Utilising 4.5 lakh cubic metres of concrete and 63,000 tons of steel, this engineering marvel underscores a commitment to robust infrastructure with a total cost of 2530 Cr.

The Observatory Towers & Viewing Galleries featuring 125-metre-high Tourist Observatory Towers, a Revolving Restaurant, and an Art Gallery, the iconic bridge promises to be a cornerstone in state tourism.

These projects hold multifaceted benefits, including catalysing the Mumbai-Kanyakumari economic corridor, boosting tourism through innovative observatory features, reducing travel time between North and South Goa, facilitating connectivity to Dabolim & Mopa airports and Mormugao Port.
