VEDANTA SESA GOA COMES TOGETHER FOR ‘RUN FOR ZERO HUNGER’

Vedanta Sesa Goa culminated its contribution as part of the #RunForZeroHunger with an over tally of over 1 million meals since 2022.

Integrated as part of the Vedanta Delhi Half Marathon, every kilometre registered on the ‘Step, Set Go’ app, corresponding number of meals would be contributed by Vedanta for those in need including children, and extending the support to animals.

During the 42-day edition in 2025, Vedanta Sesa Goa organised 30 plus events which witnessed keen participation from its employees, workmen and business partners across 5 states including Goa, Gujarat, Karnataka, Maharashtra and Odisha. In Goa, special events were organised at Bicholim, Amona & Panjim and over 20 individuals contributed with over 1500 km in the stipulated time, which corresponded to the equal number of meal contribution.

The culminating event was organised at Divar Island under the banner of the ‘Funrise Walkathon’ , with a large number of participants committing to the effort.

Speaking on the occasion, Navin Jaju, CEO, Sesa Goa, said, “Congratulations to the entire Sesa Goa ‘family’ for their spirited participation in the #RunForZeroHunger. Across locations, and across states the verve and zest for a world without hunger was palpable through collective and individual efforts. The meaning that is now associated with VDHM ’25 – an opportunity to push back against hunger – also attained a higher pitch with the families and communities pitching in wholeheartedly. I thank everyone for their stepping up and their resolve to ‘ give back’ meaningfully to the world.”

The initiative was also combined with the goals of the ‘Swachhotsav – Swachhata Hi Seva 2025’ campaign, organised under the aegis of the Indian Bureau of Mines & the Directorate General of Mines Safety & joint events coinciding with the campaign were also conducted. These involved conducting walkathons to spread awareness on cleanliness and hygiene and in the process also led to contributions for the #RunForZeroHunger campaign.

All throughout, a large number of community members and students from across colleges and schools also joined in the effort, adding to the overall commitment for a world without hunger.
