Verna Industrial Estate, National Organisation for Tobacco Eradication (NOTE) and Consumer VOICE, New Delhi, organised a ‘Awareness Walkathon Rally’ to mark the World No-Tobacco Day 2023 on Wednesday. The rally was flagged off from from nearly 15 participating company/units holding placards / banners with anti-tobacco message & slogans and nearly 300 participants converged at GIDC administration building, stated a press release.
Dr Shekhar Salkar, oncologist and President of NOTE India, in his opening remarks stated that tobacco is the number one preventable cause for Cancer and many other diseases, as he expressed urgent need to take proactive steps including strong tobacco control rules to curb the menace of tobacco.
Pradip Da’Costa, President of Verna IDC Association, expressed happiness that such a important event has been organised in the IDC premises and also explained the participants that Verna Industrial Association is keenly involved in various environmental awareness activities.
Amarjeet Singh, Consumer VOICE New Delhi, congratulated the participants for gathering in large numbers and strengthening the movement against tobacco. Radhiya, Field Executive from IDC in her statement supported the cause against tobacco. Anand Mishra, Ganpat Kapdi and Pawse from Verna Industries Association, were also part of the group.
