V. M. Salgaocar College of Law (VMSCL), with its flagship initiative BeyondTheSyllabus (BTS), is set to host a unique event titled “Library Marathon: 3-Hour Screen-Free Reading Challenge” on 28th June 2025, at the VMSCL Library, Miramar Goa. This one-of-a-kind event invites students and the general public to participate in a 3-hour uninterrupted reading session focused on promoting mindful, distraction-free reading. During the session, the participants will read physical books, with no phones or any electronic devices.
The event will run from 9:15 AM to 12:15 PM, and participation is limited to the first-come basis to 30 registered students. Those who complete the full session will be awarded a Certificate of Completion. To add to the excitement, 2 lucky participants will be awarded prizes!
The event is organised under the leadership of Prof. Shaber Ali G., Principal; with Faculty Co-ordinators Ramrai Naik and Nalin Phaldesai, student co-coordinators Sangeet Grower and Arnav Dessai. Student volunteers Aditi Thakur, Nidhi Naik, Krupa Naik, Sachi Sawant, Tanuja Dhond, Komal Das and Dareen Khattal will assist in managing the session.
Through this event, the college aims to create space for focused reading, promote digital detox, and rekindle students’ relationship with physical books. The Library Marathon reflects VMSCL’s broader commitment to academic well-being and overall student development.
BeyondTheSyllabus (BTS) established in 2023 as part of VMSCL’s golden jubilee celebrations by Faculty member Ramrai Naik, has led a wide variety of creative initiatives at VMSCL, including podcasts, film and book discussions, interviews, field trips, do nothing challenge, interactive workshops, screenings, and reflections on campus life. All designed to inspire curiosity and conversation beyond the curriculum.
