WARM FAREWELL ACCORDED TO GOVERNOR PS SREEDHARAN PILLAI AT RAJ BHAVAN

A warm farewell was accorded to the Governor P S Sreedharan Pillai as he departed from Goa after the end of his tenure of 4 years. In his final event, the Governor graced a “Financial Aid Distribution” ceremony at Raj Bhavan, Dona Paula on Thursday. A Guard of Honour was given to the Governor at the entrance of the New Durbar Hall.

Chief Minister  Dr. Pramod Sawant,  Union Minister of State for Ministry of Power and New and Renewable Energy, Shripad Y. Naik, , Minister for Health Vishwajeet Rane, Prof. H. B. Menon, Vice Chancellor, Goa University and Sanjeev C Gauns Dessai, Secretary to Governor, R Mihir Vardhan, IAS (R), Special Officer Governor were present on the occasion.

First Lady of Goa, Rita Shreedharan Pillai also graced the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion in tribute to Pillai, Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant said Governor made the Raj Bhavan accessible to the people of Goa. He thanked him for the support that he extended to run the State effectively.

Addressing the public, Pillai hailed support from the people of Goa. He extended special thanks to the Chief Minister for his support for helping to fulfill all the initiatives that are carried out by Raj Bhavan.

Shripad Y. Naik said that the Governor has built a bond with the people of Goa. He was a true guiding force for Goa. He made Raj Bhavan as home for the visitors.

Naik further said that the Raj Bhavan’s generous support to cancer and dialysis patients under the support of Pillai, brought smiles on many Goan faces. Naik thanked him for all his support towards Goans.

Pillai distributed financial aid through the discretionary funds of Governor, to 38 cancer and dialysis patients. Apart from patients financial aid towards the welfare of the people were presented to various institutions, organisations and Muths in Goa. Certificates were also given to the students.

Meanwhile in a press release – Indian Medical Association (IMA), Goa State also conveyed its heartfelt gratitude and bid farewell to Pillai. IMA Goa also appreciated Governor’s gesture of handing over financial assistance to all IMA branches and the state leadership to enhance healthcare support and care for the elderly population of Goa.
