‘WASTE MUSEUMS’ AT SALIGAO & CACORA TO SHOWCASE BEST WASTE MANAGEMENT PRACTICES

The Government of Goa has plans to showcase the State’s sustainable waste management practices via ‘Waste Museums’.

Goa Waste Management Corporation (GWMC) boasts of state of the art plants at Saligao and Cacora. As such, Goa is acknowledged as one of the States with India’s best waste treatment facilities.

Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant, who chaired the 15th Board of Directors Meeting of Goa Waste Management Board, announced that extensive IEC and awareness programmes on Waste Management, shall be conducted across the state involving MLAs, local representatives, and Swayampurna Mitras.

“Waste Museums shall be set up in the premises of Saligao and Cacora waste treatment facilities, to showcase sustainable waste management practices in the state of Goa. GWMC shall undertake works of setting up a landfill and 15TPD bio-methanation plant at Sonsoddo, Margao on behalf of Margao Municipal Council as deposit works,” posted the CM on his social media.

Dr. Sawant also added that the Board appreciated the operation and functioning of Saligao SWMF, Cacora SWMF, Common Biomedical Waste Facility, and Common Hazardous Waste Facility.
