WE WANT TO TAKE GOA’S SPORTS TO NEXT LEVEL, SAYS SPORTS MINISTER GOVIND GAUDE

A Live interaction by Sports Minister Govind Gaude on Saturday, emphasised the rising importance of sports to the Government of Goa as various schemes of the Sports and Youth Affairs department were discussed online for the meaningful implementation and participation.

Director of Sports & Youth Affairs, Rohit Kadam explained all the schemes that cater to youth empowerment in general, schools for sports equipments, PE teachers; along with those governing Sports Authority of Goa and Goa Football Development Council to mould the youngsters as well as assist those chasing excellence.

Goa’s Arjuna Awardee chess player and WGM Bhakti Kulkarni, Asian Games windsurfer Dayne Coelho and windfoiler Katya Coelho; international badminton player Anura Prabhudesai and international footballer Karishma Shirvoikar thanked the state government for financial assistance that paved the way for each of them to achieve greater heights in their respective disciplines.

Gaude called on the panchayats, schools – some of whose representatives were online -for support; and the youngsters in general to work hard with passion, saying: “sports field will be a great career option as it will not be just a means for livelihood but your efforts will provide you recognition and fame along with financial benefit. Together with your cooperation, let’s take Goa’s sports to the next level.”
