The National Rural Livelihood Mission Foundation and Policy Watch India Foundation, with support from Flipkart, conducted a workshop on ‘Orientation Towards Market Access and Democratisation of E-Commerce in India’ at Porvorim on Tuesday.
The initiative is designed to train artisans, craftspeople, and women Self-Help Groups (SHGs) on market access and digital empowerment.
Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant graced the inaugural ceremony. Rajneesh Kumar, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer at Flipkart, Gopal Parsekar, Director of District Rural Development Authority, North Goa, were also present.
“This initiative aligns with the vision of Aajivika Nirman (आजीविका निर्माण), the realisation of Swayampurna Goa, and the empowerment of Lakhpati Didis and women SHGs. It aims to make women financially independent and digitally capable, thereby fostering entrepreneurship and self-reliance,” stated the Chief Minister.
“The development of women entrepreneurship is pivotal to achieving the goals of Viksit Goa and Viksit Bharat,” added Dr Sawant.
Collaborative efforts by the Government of Goa, the Government of India, and private entities like Flipkart and Saras have created platforms for women entrepreneurs to showcase and sell their products online. “I am confident this orientation program will enhance their capacity, expand their businesses, and drive economic growth,” remarked Dr Sawant.
