Minister for Water Resources Department (WRD), Subhash Shirodkar, conducted an on-site assessment visit to review issues pertaining to water distribution from the Salauli Dam and also inspected the Paroda Canal today.
The meeting and site visit were attended by Dyaneshwar Salelkar, Chief Engineer, WRD, Executive Engineers, and other senior officials of the department.
The Minister reviewed the water distribution scenario with the objective of ensuring sufficient water supply to the command area of Salauli Dam.
Directions were issued to facilitate water supply benefiting additional 500 farmers in the upcoming cropping season from Salauli Dam’s D1 Canal in the command area.
It is targeted that villages having ‘Panivatap Sanstha’ will cultivate at least five vegetable crops as cash crops, boosting local agricultural economy.
Paroda Canal Inspection
The WRD Minister also inspected the Paroda Canal, assessing its condition and water carrying capacity for irrigation purposes and issued directives to officials for effective implementation of measures ensuring adequate water availability from these systems.
The visit underscores the government’s focus on optimal utilisation of water resources for agricultural development and supporting farmers in Goa, enhancing water management in key areas like Salauli Dam and Paroda Canal.
