Japan’s Miu Hirano became the first semi-finalist of the ongoing WTT Star Contender Goa at Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Indoor Stadium, Taleigao plateau on Saturday morning.
Hirano, 22, brushed off the challenge from world no 8, Ying Han of Germany 3-0 (11-8, 11-6, 11-9) in just over 33 minutes in the first quarter-final of the day.
The World No 17 and reigning Olympics silver-medallist displayed a fine attacking game to dominate the proceedings against the defensive style of 39-year-old Han, Olympics 2016 silver-medallist.
