8TH SCIENCE FILM FESTIVAL OF INDIA CONCLUDES

With an open film screening of the Marathi film “Take Care Good Night,” based on cybercrime, the eighth edition of the Science Film Festival of India—2023, drew to a conclusion in Panaji today.

At the valedictory ceremony held at the Inox in Panaji, Dr. Vidyadhar Vaidya, Governing Council Member of Vijnana Bharati who was present as the chief guest, praised the Vidnyan Parishad, Goa’s efforts to popularise science via films and other innovative activities.

Dr. Vaidya said that Vijnana Bharati, is a vibrant movement for the development of Swadeshi Sciences. The Vidnyan Parishad, Goa, a state unit of Vijnana Bharati, is doing a wonderful job at creating awareness about Indian knowledge system through its various initiatives.

Prof. Harilal Menon, Vice Chancellor of Goa University emphasized that instructors should switch from a teaching-centric approach to learning-centric approach. He also announced that the Goa University is in the process to establish Research Park that would include a bio-incubation centre and an IT incubation centre.

Suhas Godse, President of the Vidnyan Parishad in Goa, spoke about the initiatives taken by the Vidnyan Parishad to encourage young people in the state to pursue science. He also appealed the teachers and parents to strengthen this movement.

Additionally, at the valedictory ceremony, prizes for the Vidyarthi Vigyan Manthan (VVM) were distributed. VVM is a national program for popularizing science among school students of standard VI to XI. It is India’s largest science talent search examination for new India using digital devices as well as India’s first open book exam.

Ashish Thakur Dessai, Secretary, SCI-FFI presented the SCI-FFI 2023 report and Manohar Pednekar, Secretary, Vidnyan Parishad, Goa proposed the vote of thanks.
