PORVORIM: MCC Estilo Legends scored their second successive victory in the Goa Women’s Premier League as they crushed Geno Dragons by eight wickets at GCA academy ground here on Monday night.
Batting first, Geno Dragons scored a modest 116/8 in the allotted 20 overs, which MCC Estilo Legends chased comfortably in 18.4 overs losing just two wickets.
The highlight of the MCC reply was a fine unbeaten half-century by Shreya Parab, 51 runs off 58 balls (5×4), and a quickfire 43 off 29 balls (6×4, 2×6) by Gautami Naik with the opening batters putting on a fantastic partnership of 78 runs in 10.4 overs to set up the victory for their side. Captain Sunanda Yetrekar provided the finishing touches, remaining not out 13 runs. Geno captain Anuja Patil and Purvaja Verlekar shared the wickets to fall.
Earlier, Geno failed to put on a batting exhibition like they did in their opening match victory; with only a couple of batters Purvaja Verlekar (35) and captain Anuja Patil (34) making a notable contribution. MCC Estilo Legends bowlers picked wickets at regular intervals with Siddhi Savase (3/26) and Tanvir Shaikh (2/18) being most successful among them.
Shreya Parab was named the player-of-the match and received the prize from Rajesh Patnekar.
