The Day 2 of The Goa Heritage Festival in Saligao had a line-up of diverse events and performances. One of the highlights was the Konkani movie, “Amche Noxib.” A cookery competition was organised in collaboration with the local MLA. The festival also featured a semi-classical program called Bhangrale Goem, which showcased the Goan folk lifestyle, festivals, and culture in a musical format, performed by Dr. Purnanand Chari, stated a press release.
The renowned Goan singer Lorna and her troupe performed, followed by a band called The Imperial, making it an entertaining evening of music and cultural performances. Singer of international repute Sonia Shirsat also rendered a musical performance at the festival.
The festival featured a wide range of cultural offerings, including 36 stalls offering a variety of Goan food and beverage as well as a demonstration stall showcasing the process of making heritage drink Feni. In addition to these culinary delights, there are also stalls featuring Goan handicrafts, offering a glimpse into the state’s rich cultural traditions. The festival also highlights traditional folk dances, adding to the vibrant and diverse atmosphere of the event.
The third and final day of the festival will feature a variety of cultural events and performances. Two movies, “Mog Ani Moipas” in Konkani and “Shyam Chi Aai” in Marathi, will be showcased at the event.
There will also be a fancy dress competition for youngsters aged 5 to 15, in which they are asked to dress up in traditional Goan clothing. Perfect Square will perform musically, including Natyageet, Bhavgeet, Kantara, Marathi/ Konkani, and semi-classical songs with an orchestra, as well as Mando and Dhalo performances by Divya Naik. Two bands, Shine On and Klix, will accompany the musical presentations.
The Goa Heritage Festival is hosted by the Goa Department of Tourism.
