Chief Minister, Dr Pramod Sawant on Monday urged the investors to come to Goa and shape their dream. ‘Come, Goa welcomes you,’ said Dr Sawant while inaugurating the ‘Invest Goa 2024 Summit’ organised by Goa Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC) and CII Western Region, at Dona Paula.
The Chief Minister launched the Goa Investment Promotion Board (GIPB) Portal https://www.goaipb.goa.gov.in/
and also released the Goa Industrial Development Corporation Regulations 2023 Manual.
“We stand at a crucial moment in our state history, with endeavour to transform Goa not just as tourist paradise but as an example of economic growth and opportunities. The heart of the transformation lies in the singular force ‘ ease of doing business ‘. Over past few years, we have cut through the red tape, streamlined the processes and created a fertile ground for your dreams to take root,” stated the Chief Minister in his address.
Emphasising that the “Invest Goa 2024 Summit is not just an event, it is a promise. A promise of vibrant future, prosperity and Goa’s boundless potential,” Dr Sawant also appealed to industrialists to invest in Goa as this is the right time to blend the aim of ‘Vikasit Bharat 2047 Vikasit Goa 2047’.
Industries Minister Mauvin Godinho, former Union Minister, Suresh Prabhu; Chairman of IDC, Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco; Chief Secretary, Puneet Kumar Goel, IAS, Secretary (Industries Trade & Commerce), Swetika Sachan, IAS, & other dignitaries were also present.
At a press conference, Godinho stressed on the success of the reforms coming in the Industries sector in Goa by highlighting the Memorandum of Understanding signed between TVS Industrial & Logistics Park and Goa Investment Promotion & Facilitation Board, and another between Pai Kane Group and Goa Investment Promotion & Facilitation Board.
The high-profile ‘Invest Goa 2024 Summit’ concluded with an overwhelming participation from industry leaders and key stakeholders. Dr. V. Candavelou IAS, Principal Secretary, Government of Goa, R. Dinesh, President, CII & Chairman, TVS Supply Chain Solutions Ltd, Piruz Khambatta, Past Chairman, CII Western Region & CMD, Rasna International Ltd, Chandrajit Banerjee, Director General, CII, Sathish Gopaliaha, President, Deloitte, Shrinivas Dempo, Chairman, Dempo Group of Companies, and Swati Salgaocar, Dy Chairperson, CII WR & President VM Salgaocar & Brother Pvt Ltd also participated in the day-long summit.
Former Union Minister Suresh Prabhu in his address said that Goa can become a hub of research and development considering a robust presence of Pharma industries in the state. He also said that the state can utilise the infrastructure of Goa Medical College and Hospital and work in the field of genomics and built an eco-system around that. The coastal state can be a hub for financial services including off shore banking.
Managing Director of Goa-IDC, Pravimal Abhishek, emphasised that Goa’s strategic location and excellent infrastructure make it a compelling choice for investors. Abhishek further stated that industry status has been accorded to manufacturing, IT, ITes, logistics, and warehousing sectors. This designation ensures that these sectors can leverage government policies for their benefit.
In a noteworthy announcement, Chandrajit Banerjee, Director General of CII, revealed plans to establish a pioneering regional culinary institute in Goa. This initiative aims to promote Indian regional cuisine, tapping into its significant global potential.
Banerjee expressed the confidence that this culinary institute would be a unique and impactful addition to the region.
