Directorate of Sports & Youth Affairs, Government of Goa, in association with the Champa Devinder Dhingra Sports Trust, organised a Scholarship Presentation Ceremony in Panaji on Wednesday.
With the aim of encouraging and supporting promising sportspersons from the state, the ceremony recognised talented athletes and provided financial assistance through scholarships for 40 athletes from different sports disciplines. It carried financial assistance of Rs. 15,000 each to help them pursue sporting careers.
Santosh Sukhadeve, IAS, Secretary Sports, Government of Goa was the chief Guest while Amit Anand, Donor, attended as the Guest of Honour. Rajesh Dhingra, Trustee of the Champa Devinder Dhingra Sports Trust, and Dr. Ajay R. Gaude, Director of Sports & Youth Affairs, Government of Goa, were also present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, the officials emphasised the importance of providing young sportspersons with the necessary financial and institutional support to enable them to focus on training, competition and long-term sporting development.
The scholarship initiative was appreciated as an important step towards nurturing sporting talent and creating greater opportunities for young athletes in Goa.
The collaboration between the Directorate of Sports & Youth Affairs and the Champa Devinder Dhingra Sports Trust reflects a shared commitment to strengthening Goa’s sports ecosystem and supporting deserving athletes.
