Department of Information Technology, Electronics, and Communication, Government of Goa, organised a felicitation programme in honour of International Women’s Day on 8th March; held at ESG, Panaji. The event was graced by Minister for Tourism, Information Technology, Electronics and Communications, Printing and Stationery – Rohan A. Khaunte, Director of ITE&C, Yashaswini B., IAS, and CEO at the Startup & IT Promotion Cell, D. S. Prashant.
In recognition of the dedicated efforts and remarkable talent of women entrepreneurs, the programme included felicitations for several women-led startups. Among those honored were Sunaya Shirodkar, from ASIER Solutions; Supriya Mallad of i-Assist, Sapna Sahani of Blurb Consultancy, Rafinabi Shaikh of Goenkart Digital World and Maria Victor of ‘Make it Happen.’
Acknowledging the significant contributions of women entrepreneurs to Goa’s startup ecosystem, Khaunte remarked: “Goa is witnessing a surge in women-led startups, showcasing the immense potential and talent of women in entrepreneurship. Remarkably, 33% of these startups are founded by women entrepreneurs, emphasising the growing prominence of women in Goa’s startup landscape. Initiatives like ‘Nari Shakti,’ envisioned by our Honorable Prime Minister Shri. Narendra Modi ji empowers women to unleash their potential and drive change and innovation.”
Yashaswini B., IAS, Director of the ITE&C department, added: “Women have played a pivotal role in fostering innovation and growth within the startup ecosystem. With 225 registered startups, 76 of which have women founders or co-founders, women have made significant strides in the tech industry and the startup ecosystem.”
