Imagine Panaji Smart City Development Limited (IPSCDL) announced the formation of an Advisory Committee of experts for Mapping of Storm Water Drains. This committee will bring together experts to develop a comprehensive strategy for mapping Panaji’s storm water drain network.
The committee will be led by Sanjit Rodrigues, Managing Director & CEO of IPSCDL, and will comprise of representatives from the Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP), Directorate of Settlement & Land Records Panaji, NGPDA Panaji, Executive Eng. WD-I (WRD), Executive Eng. Roads WD-II (PWD) Panaji, Charles Correa Foundation Panaji, The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, Patricia Pinto, a resident of Panaji and the Chief General Manager IPSCDL.
The advisory committee, appointed by IPSCDL, holds a crucial responsibility in developing a comprehensive strategy for mapping storm-water drains across the city. This involves close co-ordination with relevant stakeholders to ensure a systematic and accurate approach to mapping. Furthermore, the committee oversees the collection and analysis of data related to existing storm-water infrastructure, identifying areas vulnerable to flooding or drainage issues and providing recommendations for enhancing the efficiency, resilience, and capacity of the drainage system. These recommendations may include maintenance and repair work suggestions, infrastructure investments, and long-term flood management strategies to mitigate the impact of extreme weather events.
In addition to the outlined responsibilities, IPSCDL reserves the right to invite additional members or experts as needed. Effective immediately, the committee is expected to convene regularly to offer valuable insights and inputs to IPSCDL, ensuring proactive measures are taken to address storm-water management challenges and enhance the city’s infrastructure resilience.
