GVM’s Gopal Govind Poy Raiturcar College of Commerce and Economics, Farmagudi, in association with Directorate of Higher Education (DHE) organised knowledge enhancing Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on Outcome Based Education(OBE) under NEP 2020 implementation for 59 teachers across 20 colleges in the state, on 25-26th October, 2024. Two resource persons of eminence from IPSR Academy, Kerala’s top Networking, Software, IT training institute and World’s leading Red Hat Training and Certification Partner based at Kochi Prof. Mendus Jacob and Dr. Suresh Namboothiri shared the key insights into effective OBE strategies and their Implementation.
The FDP was inaugurated by Prof. Niyan Marchon, Centre for Teaching, Learning and Educational Technology, Goa State Higher Education Council, DHE, Goa in his inspiring speech set the ball rolling for the training. Principal Prof. Teotone Vaz welcomed the gathering and expressed his happiness on organising such teaching-learning quality enhancement two days training and development programme by the college. Krishna Shetye, Chairman, GVM’s working Committee, praised and appreciated OBE initiatives for the State by the College.
Prof. Jacob, started out with six difficulty level stages of Blooms Taxonomy and with several illustrations on Learning Outcomes explained the mapping of Programme & Course Outcomes, Programme Specific and Course Outcomes, leading to Outcome attainment. On day 2, Dr. Suresh Nambothiri, who has vast experience with corporates including TATA, convinced the participants that Outcome based strategy is being practiced and applicable in all sectors and now being brought in education through the implementation of NEP 2020.
Prof. Vikas J. Pissurlekar, Principal of PES college of Arts & Science, Farmagudi was the chief Guest for the Valedictory function, who emphasised on every activity undertaken in an educational institution, its outcome should be monitored and evaluated as quality standards. The two day FDP concluded with beneficiaries sharing positive feedback on the deliberations and Dr. Geetanjali Achrekar, HoD of Economics and the Convener of FDP.
