The Department of Library at St. Joseph Vaz College launched a Virtual Library Service on 14th November 2024, as part of National Library Week (14-20 November).
The driving force for the initiative of the Cortalim-based college, is to make a broad range of E-resources readily accessible to students, faculty, and staff. Hosted online through the college’s library platform, the Virtual Library consolidates numerous resources into a single, easy-to-navigate location, allowing readers to access materials directly from virtual bookshelves.
Key resources include DELNET, offering inter-library loan services along with millions of e-books, e-journals, and research papers to support students’ academic needs, and KOPYKitab, providing academic e-books across various disciplines.
The Virtual Library also features an extensive selection of e-books in diverse genres, ranging from academic texts to fiction and self-help, encouraging reading beyond coursework.
Additionally, the readers can stay informed with e-newspapers and e-magazines and explore a unique collection of rare books with historical significance, making rare works more accessible.
The Virtual Library Service brings all of these digital resources together in one central hub, boosting library engagement and readership by simplifying access. This initiative aids academic research and promotes a general love for reading, enriching the college’s learning environment and supporting the library’s mission to foster a culture of knowledge and continuous learning.
