The 6th Dr. Filipe Pinto Memorial All-Goa Table Tennis Tournament, was held recently at Clube Tennis de Gaspar Dias, Miramar. Yusuf Sheikh and Xisto Fernandes emerged winners in Group 1, while Jeffrey Pereira and Laxman Nadkarni were victorious in Group 2.
The tournament, which was organised by Kabir Pinto Makhija under the aegis of the Goa Table Tennis Association, received an overwhelming response. In the Group 1 final, Yusuf Sheikh/Xisto Fernandes beat Sachin Soares/Shirish Patil 3-1 whereas in the Group 2 final Jeffrey Pereira/Laxman Nadkarni beat Joseph Duarte/Hemant Ramani 3-1.
Earlier in the Group 1 Semi-finals, Sachin Soares/Shirish Patil beat Mahesh Talavdekar/Prashant Kamat 3-0 and Yusuf Sheikh/Xisto Fernandes beat Joseph Sequeira/Milind Salkar 3-0.
In the Group 2 Semi-finals, Jeffery Pereira/Laxman Nadkarni beat John Pinto/Geeta Washington 3-0 and Joseph Duarte/Hemant Ramani beat Ferdinand Rodrigues/ Euclid Heredia 3-1.
FC Goa midfielder Sahil Tavora was the chief guest and gave away the prizes in the presence of
Shivaji Desai and Dinesh Sinari, President of GVTTA.
