Baroda declared their first innings at 472 for eight on the second day of their Ranji Trophy Elite Group A match against Goa at the Panaji Gymkhana ground on Monday. Goa suffered an early setback in reply, losing opener Suyash Prabhudessai for a duck off the very first ball of their innings. At stumps, Goa were five for one in three overs, with Shivendra Bhujbal unbeaten on five and nightwatchman Darshan Misal yet to score.
Resuming at their overnight score of 204 for three, Baroda added another 268 runs before declaring. Captain Atit Sheth narrowly missed a century, falling for 99. Shashwat Rawat, who was unbeaten overnight, went on to score 69, while Deepak Hooda contributed 52. Wicketkeeper Mitesh Patel also made a valuable 81 to strengthen Baroda’s position.
Off-spinner Mohit Redkar was Goa’s most successful bowler, finishing with three wickets for 120 runs from 41 overs. Vasuki Koushik claimed two wickets, while Rithvik Naik, Shubham Tari and Darshan Misal took one each.
Goa now face an uphill task as they look to reduce Baroda’s substantial first-innings lead.
