Installing 21,200 rooftop solar systems by 2027 is the target for Goa via implementation of PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana.
Chief Minister, Dr. Pramod Sawant chaired a high-level meeting at Mantralaya to review the green energy initiative.
Under PM-SGMBY – Goa aims to generate 65 MW of clean, green energy. In order to achieve the bigger target, the Government of Goa wants to reach out to the middle-class families and lower-income strata, ensuring affordable and sustainable energy for all.
Amongst the points discussed & deliberated at the review meet were fast-tracking process of onboarding of contractors with 25-year maintenance commitments; promoting large-scale rooftop solar adoption in new and existing buildings, including hotels, government offices, and residential complexes; phasing out older schemes like the Goa Vinamulya Vidyut Yojana (GVVYJ), integrating it under PM-SGMBY, emphasising mandatory rooftop solar installations for specific sectors.
