DHE: EXPERTS FROM EMINENT INSTITUTIONS ACROSS INDIA GUIDE ADVANCED LEVEL RESEARCH WORKSHOP PHASE III FOR GOA’S SOCIAL SCIENCES FACULTY

Directorate of Higher Education, Government of Goa, successfully organised the Phase III – Advanced Level Research Workshop for 28 Social Sciences faculty from HEIs and Goa University, at the Salesians of Don Bosco, Odxel, Dona Paula, recently.

The residential workshop brought together experts from eminent institutions across India to enhance the research capabilities of social sciences faculty. In the Phase I workshop, the faculty were trained at the Indian School of Business, Mohali Punjab.

The workshop aimed to equip participants with advanced research methodologies, ethical considerations, and practical tools crucial for high-quality academic output.

Bhushan K. Savaikar, Director of Higher Education, graced the event as the Chief Guest, emphasising the importance of continuous learning and research in higher education.

The expert interactive sessions featured the following distinguished speakers who delved into various critical aspects of social science research.

Dr. Shaveta Kohli (Associate Professor, Central University of Jammu) delivered a session on “Factor Analysis: A Strategic Method for Dimensionality Reduction in Research, Ethical and Practical Use of AI in Research Writing & Conceptual Diagram Design.” Her insights provided faculty with a comprehensive understanding of statistical techniques and the responsible integration of AI in research.

Dr. Ajit Phadnis (Associate Professor, Indian Institute of Management, Indore) focused on “Quantitative analysis for social science: Descriptive Statistics and Regression Modelling.” This session was particularly beneficial for participants looking to strengthen their quantitative research skills.

Dr. Anandarao Suvvari (Assistant Professor, Indian Institute of Technology, Goa) presented on “Advancing Research in Economics and Finance: Emerging Themes, Methods, and Publication Strategies.” His talk offered valuable guidance on navigating contemporary research areas and strategies for publishing in reputable journals.

Prof. Reena Cheruvalath (Professor, BITS Pilani, K. K. Birla Goa Campus) explored “Exploring problems and possibilities in educational technology research.” This session highlighted the evolving landscape of educational research and the opportunities presented by technology.

The workshop was expertly co-ordinated by Prof. (Dr.) Niyan Marchon, Professor, Teaching, Learning & Educational Technology (TLET), and Prof. (Dr.) Mahesh Majik, Professor, Research Development & Innovation (RDI). Their efforts ensured a smooth and enriching experience for all attendees.

The “Advanced level Research workshop” underscores the Directorate of Higher Education’s commitment to fostering a vibrant research ecosystem in Goa and empowering social sciences faculty with the latest knowledge and skills to contribute meaningfully to their fields. The interactive format of the sessions allowed for active engagement and fruitful discussions, leaving participants with enhanced confidence and a renewed enthusiasm for research.
