Niti Aayog in collaboration with IAMAI, has released its report “Rethinking Homestays: Navigating Policy Pathways”.
The report was launched by Suman Bery, Vice Chairman, NITI Aayog, in the presence of Yugal Kishore Joshi, Programme Director, NITI Aayog, senior officials from the Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Culture, and representatives from Goa, Kerala, Uttarakhand, and Uttar Pradesh.
Vikas Kamble, Deputy Resident Commissioner, Goa Sadan, participated in the event, as Goa’s representative.
The report presents a strategic roadmap to unlock the potential of homestays and BnBs in India. It emphasises the role of homestays in offering culturally immersive travel, fostering local entrepreneurship, and generating employment, while advocating transparent, light-touch regulations to ensure safety, protect heritage, and drive inclusive, sustainable growth.
