Goa Sports Council of the Deaf (GSCD) in collaboration with Rudhra Sports Club, Comba-Margao, organised their 6th All Goa Deaf Football Tournament at Fatorda-Margao. North Goa secured a 3-0 victory over South Goa, to reign supreme at the tournament.
Amongst the top individual prize-winners were Sanjil Parab (Best Goal), Nitin Sonshikar (Golden Boot) and
Kalpesh Ghadi (Best Goalkeeper).
Vivekanand R. Tambi (TSO/Quepem), John Justine Fernandes, Executive Committee Members of AISCD, the president of GSCD, Prasad Joshi (General Secretary, (GSCD), and the Board Members of GSCD, graced the occasion.
This tournament also served as an important selection opportunity for players for the upcoming National Football Championship for the Deaf (Junior Boys category). The championship, to be hosted for the first time in Goa by the Goa Sports Council of the Deaf in association with Rudhra Sports Club-Margao under the aegis of the All India Sports Council of the Deaf (AISCD), will take place from October 9–12, 2025 at the Athletic Stadium, Bambolim.
The event is being organised in collaboration with the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD), Govt. Of Goa, as part of the International Purple Feast , along with the office of the State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities.
GSCD has been participating in various National Championships across India, but in its 28 years (since 1997) this is the first time that Goa will host the prestigious National Football Championship of the Deaf.
Meanwhile adding to the pride, Aahil Sheikh a talented swimmer from Goa has been selected to represent India in Swimming at the Deaflympics 2025, to be held in Tokyo from November 15-26, 2025.
