KTC ELECTRIC BUS SERVICE ON MAPUSA-PANAJI ROUTE VIA PORVORIM CONSTITUENCY

The Kadamba Transport Corporation Ltd. (KTCL) has introduced two electric buses connecting Mapusa Bus Stand to Panaji Bus Stand via Porvorim Constituency. The new service was formally flagged off at Porvorim, at the hands of Minister for Tourism and local MLA Rohan A. Khaunte.

“The Government of Goa is committed to improving public transport infrastructure with sustainable solutions. The introduction of electric buses on this crucial route not only reduces congestion and travel time but also aligns with our vision of creating a cleaner and greener Goa. This initiative also complements our Regenerative Tourism approach by prioritising community well-being and environmentally responsible development,” said Khaunte.

The buses will operate on the route covering Mapusa Bus Stand, Paliem, Vaddem, Kharrem, Socorro Church, Ambirna, Paithona, Torda (Ganesh Temple), Art Park, Ramvadeshwar Temple, Britania House, Kavlekar Super Market, Porvorim Old Market (GCA), Maharudra Hanuman Temple (Housing Board), Clock Tower (Gadge Maharaj Hall), Sanjay School and culminating at the Panaji Bus Stand before returning along the same route.

Morning services will begin at 7:30 am with Bus No. 1 leaving from Mapusa Bus Stand to Panaji Bus Stand and Bus No. 2 leaving Panaji Bus Stand to Mapusa Bus Stand. Return services will operate at 10:00 am with Bus No. 1 leaving Panaji Bus Stand to Mapusa Bus Stand and Bus No. 2 leaving Mapusa Bus Stand to Panaji Bus Stand. Afternoon services will commence at 4:30 pm with Bus No. 1 leaving from Mapusa Bus Stand to Panaji Bus Stand and Bus No. 2 leaving from Panaji Bus Stand to Mapusa Bus Stand. Return services will operate at 6:30 pm with Bus No. 1 leaving Panaji Bus Stand to Mapusa Bus Stand and Bus No. 2 leaving Mapusa Bus Stand to Panaji Bus Stand.

This service is expected to provide a reliable, eco-friendly and efficient commute and significantly benefit daily commuters, students and professionals traveling between Mapusa and Panaji while setting a benchmark for environmentally conscious public transport initiatives in the state, according to a press release.
